Interconnectable Components Employing A Multi-Positionable Key
A keying arrangement for interconnectable components is disclosed. The keying arrangement is particularly useful for fiber optic connector assemblies having a receptacle connector with key projections integrally formed therewith in one of plural different key positions. These key positions may be dictated by an industry standard. A plug connector of the assembly includes a multi-positionable key element. The key element is positionable in plural different orientations to provide keyways which uniquely accommodate one of the key projections defining the plural different key positions of the receptacle connector. Rotative movement of the key element within the plug connector provides the plural different orientations and thereby the plural keyways.

The mounting tabs are arranged so that the flange members are disposed towards each other. The apparatus also includes a bracket that includes a baseplate defining a plane and a mounting pad disposed on the baseplate in the plane. The mounting pad includes a central area, attached to the baseplate, and a finger attached to the central area. The finger projects in the plane and is articulable in the plane. The mounting pad may be disposed in a region between the support members of the mounting tabs and between the flange members of the mounting tabs and the baseplate.
An electrical connector assembly for terminating flat multiconductor ribbon cable is disclosed. The connector assembly includes a base supporting plural insulation-piercing contacts in a pre-determined array. A cover, positioned over the base, is movable with respect thereto to effect cable termination to the contacts. Cable strain relief is provided by spring clips which urge an extent of cable against a side wall of the cover.

A plurality of conductor grasping and piercing ridges are selectively disposed at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of a metallic crimpable ferrule and extend outwardly from its interior wire receiving surface so that upon crimping the ferrule about a wire inserted therewithin, the ridges penetrate the periphery of the wire along an obliquely oriented path defining a number of incrementally displaced transverse planes longitudinally offset from one another to avoid shearing or severing the wire along any one common transverse plane.
Transition Connection Apparatus Having Grounding Feature
A transition connection apparatus provides for electrical interconnection between round conductors in a grounded conduit in an under-floor wiring system and conductors in an insulated flat multiconductor cable in an undercarpet wiring system. A conductive base member having an undulated portion defining a crest supports an insulative member having a plurality of mounting surfaces for joining a plurality of conductors thereon. A plate-member projects from the undulated portion and extends adjacent to and in overlying relation to one of the mounting surfaces. Such plate member and at least one conductor are joined on the one mounting surface. A ground potential is established at such joint through the base member that is conductively coupled to the grounded conduit by a threaded nipple.
