  • US Patent:
    39746089, Aug 17, 1976
  • Filed:
    Oct 23, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/625147
  • Inventors:
Kenneth R. Grearson - Park Ridge IL
  • Assignee:
    Multuloc Corporation - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    E04B 238
  • US Classification:
    52235
  • Abstract:
A panel wall construction using box-tee sheet metal shapes wherein the panels may be inserted in channels of the sheet metal shape or clips may be inserted in slots between the channels of the sheet metal shapes to hold the panels. These same shapes may be used for mullions, base sills and top caps thereby producing a panel wall system wherein no screw-type fasteners are required to hold the panels in place. The disclosed panel wall construction provides a very light weight construction which has great flexibility with respect to panel thickness and width as well as great flexibility of design to accommodate wind loadings.
  • Building Deck Structure

  • US Patent:
    44571151, Jul 3, 1984
  • Filed:
    Jul 27, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/286882
  • Inventors:
Kenneth R. Grearson - Park Ridge IL
    Robert Watson - Woodstock IL
  • Assignee:
    Multuloc Corporation - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    E04C 226
  • US Classification:
    52 73
  • Abstract:
A poured concrete deck structure which extends to the external building line or to a designated line of an internal opening of a building has a form deck which is supported by metal structural girders, including edge girders which are spaced from the building line or designated line, and an edge construction which retains the concrete according the building specifications. The edge construction is improved by terminating the form deck at the edge girders, providing a plurality of spaced support means secured to the top of the edge girders and extending towards the building line or designated line and providing a plurality of adjacent pans for retaining the poured concrete. The pans are supported by at least two supports, and are in communication with an edge girder. The pans may be secured to the edge girder, to the support means, or to both, after proper alignment with the building line or designated line. The edge construction may be installed without sub-deck support or scaffolding beneath the deck during construction.
  • Energy Efficient Deck Framing System And Method

    view source
  • US Patent:
    63179156, Nov 20, 2001
  • Filed:
    Oct 29, 1999
  • Appl. No.:
    9/430494
  • Inventors:
Kenneth R. Grearson - Park Ridge IL
  • Assignee:
Multuloc International Systems - Park Ridge IL
  • International Classification:
    E01D 1912
  • US Classification:
    14 73
  • Abstract:
An energy efficient deck framing system and method is disclosed. In a deck framing system having structural framing members that support a deck panel structure, individual deck panels are inserted between pairs of the framing members. Supporting rods extend downward through the top of the framing members and are provided with a support nut that is sized to maintain the framing member in a supported fashion. An insulating subassembly is provided having an insulating washer interposed between a conventional washer or a secondary nut and the top of the framing member, and an insulating retainer clip received in the lower portion of the top of the framing member and the support nut. The insulating retainer clip is constructed and arranged to be securably received within the contours of the framing member. The retainer clip can either be constructed and arranged to be releasably mountable on the support nut or it can be constructed and arranged to more uniformly distribute the load transmitted by the support rods to the framing member.

  • US Patent:
    53598261, Nov 1, 1994
  • Filed:
    Oct 26, 1992
  • Appl. No.:
    7/966756
  • Inventors:
Kenneth R. Grearson - Park Ridge IL
  • Assignee:
Multuloc International Systems Corporation - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    E04C 300
    F16B 702
  • US Classification:
    526501
  • Abstract:
A structural framing member having a base and two opposing side walls projecting from the base in a direction approximately perpendicular to the base. Each side wall has an intermediate flange which is approximately parallel to the base and which divides each corresponding side wall into a lower portion and an upper portion. The lower portion is offset from the upper portion by a distance equal to the width of the intermediate flange. A distance between the lower portions of the side wall is greater than a distance between the upper portions of the side wall. Each side wall has an upper flange directed inward toward each other. Each upper flange has a terminal end portion which is angled downward toward the base and is approximately perpendicular to the upper flange. The terminal end portions are spaced apart from each other thereby defining a continuous slot along a longitudinal axis of the structural framing member. Two structural framing members are positioned on opposing sides of a panel.
