Abstract:

A rotatable gutter system that includes a gutter and a pair of support members each located at an opposite end of the gutter to mount it onto a building. The gutter is rotatable relative to the support members about an axis that extends between them. The gutter includes a drive member accessible through an opening in one of the support members. Rotation of the drive member causes concomitant rotation of the gutter. In this way, the gutter can be inverted for easy cleaning and for storage during winter months to prevent ice buildup in the gutter. An elongated drip edge can be provided above the gutter such that it contacts an outer surface of the gutter when it is rotated to a closed (inverted) position. The gutter can have an end piece at each end with the drive post being a unitary extension of that end piece.

Abstract:

A tow bar coupling head removably attachable to the cross pin of an aircraft nose wheel strut has a solid metal body portion with a transverse slot in its underside within which the cross pin is received. A positive deadbolt slide lock retains the cross pin in place. A removable locking pin extending vertically through the body portion prevents accidental withdrawal of the deadbolt slide lock.

Abstract:

A protective surface treatment in the form of a coating for steel or another metal or metal alloy capable of providing oxidation resistance in an inert gas furnace or air-containing furnace is provided. The coating is formed by a solution including at least one flux agent, such as boric acid, and at least one binder, such as polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate (PVP/VA), hydrooxypropylcellulose (HPC), ethylcellulose, and/or acrylics. The solution also includes at least one solvent, such as methanol or ethanol and can include various additives. The finished coating includes iron borate and provides a glassy surface.

Abstract:

A die casting apparatus for manufacturing metal parts for automotive vehicle applications is provided. The die casting apparatus includes upper and lower dies presenting forming surfaces and a mold cavity therebetween. A replaceable insert and sub-inserts provide portions of the forming surfaces of the dies in areas most prone to wear and erosion. The replaceable inserts and sub-inserts can be removed and replaced during high volume production, without having to replace the entire die. A wear and/or heat resistant coating can be applied to the inserts and sub-inserts to further increase service life. A plurality of cooling channels can also be formed in the inserts and sub-inserts to improve cycle time and quality of the parts.
