Abstract:
A hydraulic control system is provided for controlling the actuation of a plurality of torque transmitting mechanisms. The hydraulic control system includes an accumulator having parallel feed paths to the plurality of torque transmitting mechanisms.
Automatic Transmission With Dual Offgoing Clutches
A vehicle includes an engine and transmission. A first rotating clutch engages as an oncoming clutch during a predetermined shift maneuver having a total required clutch energy. A second rotating clutch acts as a holding clutch. A third rotating clutch engages as an additional oncoming clutch during the shift maneuver to share clutch energy with the first rotating clutch. The third rotating clutch, when not engaged, has a zero slip speed relative to the input member. A method includes building a shift table for a transmission design, including identifying slip speed ratios, with respect to the input member, for each clutch, and selecting, from the shift table, a direct drive or other gear state in which three of the rotating clutches are simultaneously operating at a zero slip speed ratio with respect to the input member. The third rotating clutch engages during the shift maneuver.

A hydraulic control system for a transmission of a motor vehicle includes a source of pressurized hydraulic fluid that communicates with an analog electronic transmission range selection (ETRS) subsystem or a manual valve. The ETRS subsystem includes an ETRS valve, a park servo, a park mechanism, a mode valve, and a plurality of solenoids. The ETRS and manual valve communicate with a clutch actuator subsystem that engages a one-way clutch and six clutches/brakes.

A transmission for a vehicle propulsion system includes a transmission housing defining a sump volume and valve body side cover volume separated by a side wall from the sump volume, a valve operable to selectively connect the valve body side cover volume with the sump volume through a fluid flow passage, a source of selectively pressurizable fluid, and an orifice connecting the source of selectively pressurizable fluid to the fluid flow passage.
