Abstract:

Disclosed is a method of peripheral nerve or blood vessel reconstruction requiring the use of a unique connector. The method employs negative gauge pressure, applied through a port on the connector, to draw the ends of the disrupted nerve or vessel into the connector. Next a biocompatible adhesive is used to cement near the ends of the nerve or vessel circumferentially to the inside of the connector wall, leaving the cut ends touching each other but free of the bio-adhesive. After the placement of the bio-adhesive, additional suction is applied to a port in the temporary housing surrounding the porous connector. This draws the nerve or blood vessel to the full diameter of the connector, maximizing the functionality of a healing blood vessel, providing alignment for disrupted tissue, and improving the circulation of blood around a regenerating nerve.

Abstract:

A method is described using paired templates for simplifying the design and construction of a hexagon based quilt top. This method overcomes the inherent difficulty in traditional hexagon quilting. In order to sew individual hexagons together and have them lie in a plane, the seam that connects each edge must stop short of running the entire length of that edge by the width of the seam on the adjacent edge at each end. A method is described that allows for continuous stitch lines without having to precisely start and stop stitching. It employs a shape within a shape concept, allowing a hexagon to fit inside a triangle which lends itself to sewing together using easier stitching techniques. The hexagon is sized to precisely fit inside an equilateral triangle and the tips of the triangles that fall outside of the hexagon shape, themselves come together to form a hexagon when the triangles are joined together. A variation of this method allows the original hexagon shapes to be joined at the points rather than the sides to allow greater flexibility in the final quilt design.

A force transfer member extends downward relative to the crusher bowl. The hydraulic lift includes an upper end interconnected with the main frame and a lower end interconnected with the force transfer member, thereby providing a downward clamp force on the force transfer member to compliantly clamp the crusher bowl to the main frame in an operating position. The hydraulic lift can provide an upward lift force on the force transfer member to move the second crusher member from the operating position to a clear position.
