Eager for his big break, Joshua Neal’s passion of musical expression prefers to belong to a new-age-alternative-rock-genre, although most remember his southern accent through good ole’ country music or his mixed genre of originals. While most promoters/producers opt to classify an artist’s genre, Joshua says, “I have always paused when asked to pin-point my genre. Mostly because I know I can please anyone. I’m a performing entertainer; not just a musician or vocalist, I’m a man of people skills and many virtues. I can read a crowd like a clock…………… knowing what time it is.” Growing up a young boy in West GA; Neal began playing guitar and started singing along to karaoke and the radio at the age of 8. This highly-active, only child, while listening to rock and country; unknowingly began building a foundation for his future love of music. Quoting.. "I remember my parents throwing wing parties where I stood on the porch playing with a local Tallapoosa band beating out 'Smoke on the Water' note for note on my first acoustic guitar." He has a graduation letter framed that his fourth grade teacher wrote him saying.. "I hope that one day I can say that famous country music star was in my 4th grade class." After previous history of singing country as a child, and teenage rock ‘guitarism’; this self taught beginner immediately reapplied vocals. Joshua didn’t take music seriously until he acquired his first electric guitar and amp at 14 years old. That was when the guitar became teenage Neal's only steady friend as his parents transferred him to several different schools in GA to keep food on the table. He began to critique any musicians he saw live or on television knowing he could be better. Broken hearted as a high school freshmen he vented his first 'love' song "Crushed Trust"; and writing took his interest in music to another level. After teaching his new step-brother rhythym guitar, they formed a three-piece band "Wet Paint", and began playing local bars, going through what he calls, “the typical high school -I’M BAD CAUSE I’M IN A BAND- lifestyle.” While in high school at the end of `99, he began songwriting and created his first copyrighted, yet not published album “Caution” at the age of 17. “I loved to rock the hallways,……with my new joy. I wasn’t interested in anything I was doing other than music, and I loved the acceptance of peers that would have never spoke to me initially without a guitar in my hand…This ability gave me a new euphoria….. Yes....I enjoyed the recognition of those cheerleaders and those who envied my 'talent' and wide-openness of my life.” While at a first paid show, little he knew of what this first step into the music world would become. He currently proceeds on his journey working on his next album.
