Abstract:

Provided is a power generating apparatus using piezoelectric elements, which can increase an amount of electricity generated in the piezoelectric elements and can extend the life of the piezoelectric elements. The power generating apparatus includes: a plurality of piezoelectric elements; a main body in which the piezoelectric elements are received and fixed, with spaced apart from one another, so as to protect the piezoelectric elements; a piezoelectric element support reciprocatingly installed in the main body to support the piezoelectric elements such that the piezoelectric elements are deformed by a reciprocating motion of the piezoelectric element support; a driving unit provided in the main body to operate the piezoelectric element support; and a power transmission unit connecting the driving unit to the piezoelectric element support, such that the piezoelectric element support is reciprocated by a driving force of the driving unit.

Abstract:

A system and related method are disclosed for location-sensitive social networking. A server has access to a map and a list of points of interest with location data by which they may be located on the map. The server establishes a virtual area around a point of interest based on a certain distance or time from the point of interest, a physical or legal parameter, or some combination of those techniques. Users whose devices are located within the virtual area are published to users of the system, and identified distinctly for social networking and communication. Users may also form groups.

Abstract:

The present invention provides an improved semi-automatic pistol magainze. In one embodied form, the unique pistol magazine member comprises an apparatus on which one end is compatible with a conventional piston magazine receptacle and the other is contoured to wrap snugly around the back of the holder's hand. The inventive magazine thereby provides the holder with the advantages of both greater bullet storage capacity and also greater compactness of bullet storage space. Moreover, the magazine chamber hugs the hand within the inner periphery of its contour thus providing the holder with added support and stability of grip. Also, in its presently preferred form, the magazine has the advantage of a relatively centrally disposed center of gravity which is conducive to greater balance and therefore better aim.
