A sunshade assembly for a vehicle comprising a molded frame having a center open area. The frame having two lateral rails, a front rail, and a rear rail. An integrally molded handle attached to the front rail extends partially into the center open area. One or more support bars may be integrally molded to at least two of the handle and rails. For a sunshade assembly used as an original equipment item, the frame with or without support bars may be integrally molded and bonded to an outer covering material simultaneously by means of low pressure injection molding and in-mold lamination.
A sliding sunshade for placement in a sunroof frame along the perimeter of an opening in a roof of a vehicle. The sunshade includes a planar rectangular panel and bow-shaped spring located at each corner of the lateral edges of the panel. The planar panel and springs are integrally connected and molded from plastic as a single unit. The springs slide in the frame when assembled in the sunroof for maintaining a rattle-free condition of the panel.

Abstract:
An improved bow for a convertible top is described which is molded from a polymeric resin such as nylon and reinforced with glass fibers. The bow has a general I beam cross section and can be reinforced for additional strength. The ends of the bow can be configured to retain stay pads or tack strips. The bow can be molded in a set of tools that have interchangeable ends and retain the same mold for the central section of the bow. The interchangeable tools for producing the ends of the bow allow for greater manufacturing flexibility in that the central tool is retained for use in producing multiple styles of bows while expenses only have to be incurred for additional tooling for the ends of the bows.
