Detectives in Holladay say Lucille Johnson was murdered inside her home back in 1991. Among the evidence they recovered at the scene were legos. At the time, investigators didnt know how they fit into the crime, but the pieces have now led to murder charges being filed against John Sansing.
The Legos seemed unimportant at the time, but now have become key evidence in the case against John Sansing, who has been charged in Johnsons murder. Sansing, 47, is currently on death row in Arizona for a 1998 murder.

According to KSL, after more than two decades, investigators say theyve finally solved the brutal murder of Lucille Johnson, 78. John Sansing a prison inmate on death row in Arizona was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, a first-degree felony, in the womans death.
When the case was reopened last year, investigators tested the residue found under Johnson's fingernails for DNA and found that it matched that of 47-year-old John Sansing, a convicted murderer serving a prison sentence in Arizona for an unrelated case, Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Sheriff's Office said

Cops: Legos collected 23 years ago help solve Utah cold case
The case was reopened several months ago by the Greater Salt Lake Unified Police Department. Material from under Johnson's fingernails was sent for DNA testing. Results showed matches for John Sansing, a man who is currently in prison in Arizona for another murder committed in 1997.
