Abstract:
A technique is provided for pumping fluids in a subterranean wellbore. A submersible pumping system can be deployed in a wellbore for moving desired fluids within the wellbore. The pumping system energizes the desired fluid movement by reciprocating a working fluid between expandable members.

Abstract:
A technique is provided to facilitate pumping of fluids in a well. A submersible pumping system utilizes a submersible motor to power a submersible pump. A motor protector works in cooperation with the submersible motor to protect motor fluid within the submersible motor and to reduce differential pressures between the internal motor fluid and the external well fluid. The motor protector incorporates a piston slidably sealed within an interior cavity of the motor protector for movement to reduce undue differential pressures.

Abstract:
To perform a cleanout operation in a wellbore, a cleaning tool having a coiled tubing and an electrical pump assembly is run into the wellbore. The electrical pump assembly that is located in the wellbore is activated. In response to fluid flow generated by the electrical pump assembly, removal of debris from the wellbore is caused by directing fluid containing the debris into the coiled tubing for delivery to an earth surface.

Abstract:
Power and control logic configurations for gas well dewatering systems are provided. In one example, a reservoir is configured to contain hydraulic, lubricating fluid. An electric motor is configured to receive fluid from the reservoir for lubrication and a hydraulic pump powered by the electric motor is configured to receive fluid from the reservoir and pump the fluid into a hydraulic circuit. A positive displacement oscillating pump is powered by the hydraulic pump and configured to pump fluid from the reservoir to an outlet from the well. The electric motor and hydraulic pump receive the same fluid from the reservoir for lubrication and to create pressure in the hydraulic circuit, respectively. A switching device is connected to the hydraulic circuit and is switchable between a first position wherein fluid pressure from the hydraulic pump causes the piston pump to move in a first direction and a second position wherein fluid pressure from the hydraulic pump causes the piston pump to move in a second direction.

Abstract:
A bottom hole assembly is rotatably adapted for drilling directional boreholes into an earthen formation. It has an upper stabilizer mounted to a collar, and a rotary steerable system. The rotary steerable system has integral drilling motor, an upper section connected to the collar, a steering section, and a drill bit arranged for drilling the borehole attached to the steering section. The steering section is joined at a swivel with the upper section. The steering section is actively tilted about the swivel. A lower stabilizer is mounted upon one of the upper section or the steering section such that the swivel is intermediate the drill bit and the lower stabilizer.

Abstract:
An orienter, particularly on coiled tubing or small diameter drill pipe, includes a motor, turbine, or other device for selectively converting the rotational kinetic energy produced from fluid flow through the device to mechanical power, and applying the mechanical power to a downhole tool through a gear train for orienting the downhole tool. The orienter is utilized during directional drilling and other operations such as well intervention, fishing, and multilateral re-entry operations. The downhole tool preferably includes a steerable mud motor. In one embodiment, the direction of the borehole is controlled by azimuthal rotation of the orienter of the present invention in response to downlink commands from the surface by changing fluid flow rate through the orienter in a predefined series of steps.
