Abstract:
A pharmaceutical container includes a vial, a sealing portion, an over cap portion, and a safety seal. The vial includes a first vial portion having a first surface. The vial is configured and arranged to hold a pharmaceutical product. The sealing portion includes a first stopper portion and a second stopper portion, the second stopper portion is positioned in the first vial portion and the first stopper portion rests against the first surface. The over cap portion surrounds the sealing portion and secures the first stopper portion against the first surface. The safety seal encapsulates at least the over cap portion to prevent accidental contact with any pharmaceutical product that might be present on the over cap portion. A method of manufacturing a pharmaceutical container includes filling a pharmaceutical vial with a pharmaceutical product; placing a sealing portion onto the pharmaceutical vial; placing an over cap portion around the sealing portion to secure the sealing portion in the pharmaceutical vial; and placing a safety seal around at least the over cap portion to prevent accidental contact with any pharmaceutical product that might be present on at least the over cap portion. A method of removing a pharmaceutical product from a container includes placing a needle through a safety seal and a stopper of the container; and removing the pharmaceutical product from the container through the needle.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a device and a method for the sterile or aseptic handing of containers, which method includes at least the following process step of: evaluating whether a container is safely closed by means of a stopper by determining whether an expected low pressure, preferably a vacuum, is present in the interior of the container.

Abstract:
A set of heart stimulator leads including first and second leads is disclosed for respectively stimulating and sensing the atrium and ventricle of a patient's heart. The proximal end of each of the aforementioned first and second leads is associated with a heart pacemaker of the atrial-sensing, ventricular-inhibited (ASVIP) or sequential type, both of which have leads that are attached to the atria and ventricles. It is critical to ensure that the first and second leads associated respectively with the atrium and ventricle of the patient's heart, are not interchanged, which condition could possibly cause arrhythmias and morbidity, and is ensured by configuring the proximal end of each of the first and second leads so that both of these leads may not be inserted into the incorrect openings or bores of the pacemaker at the same time. In particular, the first or atrial lead has a portion adjacent to its proximal end of reduced dimension that permits its insertion into the corresponding first or atrial bore of the pacemaker, whereas the second or ventricle lead has a larger diameter at a corresponding portion adjacent the proximal end thereof corresponding to the dimension of the second or ventricular bore of the pacemaker, permitting insertion therein, but being greater than that of and thus not permitting insertion within the first or atrial bore of the pacemaker.

Abstract:
A guide bearing assembly is disclosed which is capable of being thoroughly cleaned. A linear actuating embodiment includes a reciprocating shaft with first and second spools axially spaced a predetermined distance. Each spool has an associated guide bearing surface taking the form of a cylindrical bore, with the bores axially spaced a distance greater than the axial distance between spools so that when one spool is in engagement with its guide bore, the opposite spool is out of engagement with its guide bore. A rotary bearing embodiment includes a rotatable shaft having first and second spools with each spool having a plurality of angularly spaced lobes. The lobes cooperate with complementing guide bearing surfaces on a guide sleeve. The lobes of one spool are angularly spaced relative to the lobes of a second spool, so that with the lobes of the first spool in engagement with their guide surfaces, the lobes of the second spool are disengaged, and vice versa.
