Philip Michael Heyman - West Windsor NJ
  • Assignee:
Thomson Licensing S.A. - Boulogne Cedex
  • International Classification:
    H01J 2980
  • US Classification:
    313407, 313403
  • Abstract:
A tension mask frame assembly for a color cathode-ray-tube including a frame having four respective sides, two of the sides paralleling each other and having insert receiving brackets for supporting strand termination inserts therein and vertical mask strands welded to said termination inserts. The strands have a plurality of cross-wires extending perpendicular to the strands and attached thereto by a conductive bonding material. The wires and termination inserts are composed of materials having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The frame and receiving brackets are composed of materials having a second coefficient of thermal expansion. The termination inserts thermally expand and contract independently of the frame and receiving brackets, whereby movement of the strands in the horizontal dimension is controlled by thermal expansion and contraction of the termination inserts and cross-wires.
  • Damping Scrubber For A Tension Mask Support Frame

    view source
  • US Patent:
    6570312, May 27, 2003
  • Filed:
    Sep 12, 2001
  • Appl. No.:
    09/950865
  • Inventors:
Joey John Michalchuk - Lambertville NJ
Alan Weir Bucher - Manheim PA
  • Assignee:
    Thomson Licensing S. A. - Boulogne Cedex
  • International Classification:
    H01J 2980
  • US Classification:
    313407, 313402, 313404, 313269
  • Abstract:
The invention provides a tension mask support frame assembly having a pair of support blade members attached to a frame. The support blade members are attached to opposite sides of the frame at a central location whereby each support blade member has a pair of distal ends extending from the central attachment point. A damping scrubber is disposed in the space between the support blade member and the frame near a distal end of the support blade members. Vibrations in the tension mask are thereby reduced through the transfer of the vibrations to the frame through rubbing action of the damping scrubbers.
  • Method And Apparatus For Reducing Vibrational Energy In A Tension Focus Mask

    view source
  • US Patent:
    6614155, Sep 2, 2003
  • Filed:
    Dec 22, 2000
  • Appl. No.:
    09/747228
  • Inventors:
Joey John Michalchuk - Lambertville NJ
  • Assignee:
    Thomson Licensing S. A. - Boulogne Cedex
  • International Classification:
    H01J 2980
  • US Classification:
    313407, 313404, 313402
  • Abstract:
An apparatus and method for dampening vibration of a television tube in a tension mask. The apparatus include a vibration reducing assembly that is affixed between a mask frame and a busbar assembly of a tensioned mask. The vibration reducing assembly is comprised of a tension coil spring with a pin inserted in the center of the coils. As the busbar assembly or mask is vibrated, the spring pulls and releases, allowing the internal pin to rub against the coils, scrubbing away energy. The busbar assembly and the mask are formed such that their independent resonant frequencies differ greatly from one another.

  • US Classification:
    313407, 313402, 445 30
  • Abstract:
An apparatus and method for terminating crosswires on a tension focus mask. The apparatus includes a set of base segment side rails each having a length and two respective ends. A pair of square tubes attached perpendicular to the respective ends of said base segment side rails to substantially form a rectangle. Also included are a pair of massive side rails having a length and two respective ends mounted above said base segments perpendicularly to said square tubes on each of the side rapid. Beam shield is offered to the massive side rail and insulating members are sandwiched between the side rail and a bus bar. Finally, a tension mask is attached and crosswires are laid and affixed to the bus bar.
