Leadership San Angelo Class 2012 San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Leadership San Angelo is designed to help develop future leadership for our City by providing intensive training in areas strategic to the city's well-being.
With the growth of San Angelo, the need for more, and new, leadership is always with us. Those who have had leadership positions in the past either move out of the city or must take a less active role and new leaders must fill the gaps. Leadership San Angelo is a practical means of developing a pool of informed persons who can become involved in the various areas of community service.
The purpose of Leadership San Angelo is to give interested men and women with leadership potential the opportunity to develop their knowledge, and to hone the skills of leadership through a planned learning process in the atmosphere of the city itself. In this living laboratory, Leadership San Angelo will bring together persons from all areas of the city's life for sharing, learning and participation. When they have completed the course, they will be familiar with all aspects of San Angelo's life, and will be better prepared to lead and work together.
To develop community knowledge and leadership skills, participants will attend a series of ten (10) informative, one-day sessions beginning October of each year covering community needs and concerns. These sessions provide information on the city through lectures, dialogue between participants and community decision-makers, and tours of various community facilities. Topics cover the full gamut of city concerns: regional economy, public education, decision-making processes, tool of leadership, cultural and recreational facilities and organizations, social and charitable agencies, government and criminal justice, housing and employment, problems of aging and poverty, youth concerns - to name a few.
