    The present invention provides: a high viscosity aqueous coating composition, which can be coated onto plastic materials such as polyolefin materials by a HVLP gun, and which has excellent sagging performance and can obtain a coating film with good appearance. The aqueous coating composition comprises an acetylene diol defoamer and a silicone wetting agent in addition to a film-formable component, wherein the nonvolatile solid content of the acetylene diol defoamer is in the range of 0. 25 to 1. 0 weight % of the entirety of the aqueous coating composition, and the nonvolatile solid content of the silicone wetting agent is in the range of 0. 75 to 2. 0 weight % of the entirety of the aqueous coating composition.

The production process for an aqueous coating composition comprises the steps of: beforehand mixing 20 to 50 parts by weight of an aqueous acrylic resin solution with 100 parts by weight of a resin emulsion, wherein the aqueous acrylic resin solution and the resin emulsion are in a state of not including an organic solvent; and adding an organic solvent to a mixed liquid obtained by mixing the resin emulsion and the aqueous acrylic resin solution.

    An object of the present invention is to easily provide an aqueous paint composition which is excellent in the low-temperature curability and can give a coated film that, while retaining a suitable texturability, further combines the water resistance, the marring resistance and the beef tallow staining resistance with good balance. In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide a coated article which is coated with this aqueous paint composition. As a means of achieving these objects, the aqueous paint composition according to the present invention is an aqueous paint composition comprising a water-soluble pure acrylic resin (A) as a binder resin and a polycarbodiimide compound (D) as a crosslinking agent; with the aqueous paint composition being characterized by further comprising acrylic resin beads (E) and urethane resin beads (F), wherein: in terms of solid component, the ratio of the water-soluble pure acrylic resin (A) relative to the binder resin, the ratios of the acrylic resin beads (E) and of the urethane resin beads (F) relative to the total of the binder resin and the crosslinking agent, and the equivalent ratio of the carbodiimide groups of the polycarbodiimide compound (D) relative to the carboxyl groups of the water-soluble pure acrylic resin (A) satisfy their respective specific ranges.

    The present invention provides: a coating composition, with which a 1-coat finish of plastic materials such as polyolefin materials can be performed, and which is aqueous and can be baked at 70 C. for 5 min. keep to have the following performance high adhesion, excellent beef tallow resistance and alkaline resistance; and a coated article. The aqueous coating composition comprises: a poly(propylene chloride) resin emulsion including a poly(propylene chloride) resin which has a chlorine content of 15 to 25 weight % and a maleic anhydride moiety content of 1.0 to 5.0 weight %; an acrylic resin emulsion including an acrylic resin which is obtained by modifying the poly(propylene chloride) resin of 0 to 30 weight % and has a glass transition temperature of not lower than 90 C., a polycarbodiimide crosslinking agent; and a resin powder. An coated article is coated with the above aqueous coating composition.
