Awards:
IFMA Council of the Year
International Facilities Management Association
The Academic Facilities Council (AFC) of the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) won the Council of the Year Award in 2012. As the Content Committee Chair, I had a strong role in the accomplishments that lead to this award and in developing the award submission documents. The Council of the Year Award was presented to the AFC due to its excellence in newsletter publishing, communication, membership marketing and educational programming. The AFC also provided the best networking opportunities and contributed to the education and information exchange of its members. The AFC's fiscal responsibility and the ability to communicate industry-specific information to the membership was also a contributing factor to earning this award.
IFMA Energy Star Challenge for Councils
International Facilties Management Association
In 2011, IFMA launched its first 12-month energy challenge for chapter and council members. I launched an email campaign to encourage members of the AFC to participate in this challenge, and walked several through the Energy Star registration process. As a result of this effort, the AFC was named the 2012 Energy Star Council Challenge winner in April 2012. IFMA began a second 12-month challenge in October 2012. I am working with AFC council members to increase our participation in this challenge, and hope to repeat as the winner in 2013.
