    An enzymatically produced α-glucan oligomer/polymer compositions is provided. The enzymatically produced α-glucan oligomer/polymers can be derivatized into α-glucan ether compounds. The α-glucan oligomers/polymers and the corresponding α-glucan ethers are cellulose and/or protease resistant, making them suitable for use in fabric care and laundry care applications. Methods for the production and use of the present compositions are also provided.

    A hydrocolloid or aqueous solution comprising a poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound is disclosed having a viscosity of at least about 10 centipoise (cPs). The poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound in these compositions has a degree of substitution of about 0.05 to about 3.0. Also disclosed is a method for increasing the viscosity of a hydrocolloid or aqueous composition using a poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compound.

    The disclosure relates to compositions comprising a polysaccharide derivative wherein the polysaccharide derivative comprises a polysaccharide substituted with a) at least one sulfate group; b) at least one sulfonate group; c) at least one thiosulfate group; or d) a combination thereof; wherein the polysaccharide is poly alpha-1,3-glucan, poly alpha-1,6-glucan, poly alpha-1,3-1,6-glucan, or a mixture thereof; and the polysaccharide derivative has a degree of substitution of about 0.001 to about 3. The compositions can be useful as anti-deposition and/or anti-graying agents in laundry detergents, and in home, personal care, and industrial applications.

    Disclosed herein are compositions and kits of materials for forming a component of a rigid gas permeable lens. An exemplary composition comprises a hydroxyl terminated polyurethane pre-polymer having an average of more than one hydroxyl group per molecule comprising: i) the residue of an aliphatic diisocyanate, a block of comprising polysiloxane and a block comprising hydrophobic poly(alkylene oxide), or ii) the residue of an aliphatic diisocyanate, a block comprising fluoroalkyl or fluoroalkyl ether, and a block of comprising hydrophobic poly(alkylene oxide). The composition further comprises a free aliphatic diisocyanate and a monomeric polyol, or a propoxylate thereof. The average number of hydroxyl groups of the hydroxyl terminated pre-polymer plus the average number of hydroxyl groups of the monomeric polyol, or a propoxylate thereof is equal to from 4.5 to 5.5. Kits of materials comprising elements that when combined form the composition are also disclosed. Further disclosed are articles and ocular devices comprising components formed from the compositions or kits.

Also disclosed are methods of producing poly alpha-1,3-glucan ether compounds having positively charged organic groups, as well as methods of using these ether compounds for increasing the viscosity of a aqueous compositions.
