Det. Sgt. Jay Finn of the Kingston Police Major Crimes Unit told the Whig-Standard that police were called to the emergency department at 6 p.m. for the shooting. Finn said there was an altercation between the inmate and the correctional officers guarding him in one of the departments wards.
