Abstract:

A virtual insurance producer Web site is provided at which a prospective insurance customer may request a bindable premium quotation for an insurance policy. If the policy may be underwritten, the Web site calculates a premium for the insurance policy. The premium is displayed to the prospective customer as a bindable quotation that binds the insurance company providing the policy and that may be purchased on-line immediately. The prospective customer may purchase the insurance policy according to the provided bindable premium quotation through the virtual insurance producer Web site. If the prospective customer elects to purchase the policy, the virtual insurance producer Web site may re-intermediate an insurance agent into the sales process and transmit the insurance policy to the customer in electronic form.

Abstract:

There is provided a system and method for multiple rights based video. Source video assets may be analyzed to identify segments associated with a restricted scope of rights, and replacement assets associated with rights of different restrictions may be provided. When a request is received to serve a particular source video asset, a correspondingly customized video asset may be constructed by analyzing the rights available to the target of the request and the associated rights of the available replacement assets. Multiple parameters may be utilized in such analysis, and may include criteria such as territorial region, audience age, paid subscription level, and intended distribution channel. Since video can be optimized for different targets largely automatically, wider distribution of content may be possible under stricter budget and schedule constraints. Potential benefits may include increased revenue streams, market penetration, and brand recognition.

There is provided a system and method for rule-based dynamic server-side streaming manifest files. There is provided a method comprising receiving a request to provide a first video content for playback, evaluating a plurality of rules for the first video content, generating a dynamic manifest file referencing the first video content, and providing the dynamic manifest file in response to the request, thereby enabling an application to playback the first video content for output on a display by interpreting the dynamic manifest file. The rules may implement various features such as dynamic advertisement insertion, load balancing, client customization, user and device targeting, enhanced security mechanisms, global announcements, and others. As streaming protocols are widely supported by default on many client platforms, the dynamic manifest files can be utilized in a user friendly and transparent manner compared to client-side solutions requiring cumbersome client software installations.

Abstract:

A method of measuring capacitance is provided in which measurement speed is increased by as much as two orders of magnitude by optimizing timing parameters to rapidly charge and discharge the capacitor in small increments about an equilibrium voltage. The capacitor is charged at a linear rate by applying a predetermined constant current thereto, and discharged at an exponential rate determined by the RC time constant in the discharge path. Incremental charge and discharge times are selected in such a manner that results in an equilibrium voltage at a point where the charge voltage ramp and discharge voltage curve would cross if they were superimposed on one another. By appropriate selection of the incremental charge and discharge times, the equilibrium voltage may be conveniently established at a point well within the range of a measuring analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The voltage difference over the incremental charge time may be measured on one cycle and utilized to compute the capacitance value.

Embodiments provide techniques for dynamically creating a story for playback using a plurality of storytelling devices. Embodiments identify a plurality of storytelling devices available to participate in a storytelling experience. User input associated with the storytelling experience is received. Embodiments further include retrieving a story template based at least in part on the identified plurality of storytelling devices. Additionally, embodiments dynamically create a first story by mapping actions from the retrieved story template to storytelling devices in the plurality of storytelling devices, based at least in part on the received user input, such that the plurality of storytelling devices will perform a respective one or more actions during playback of the first story based on the mapped actions from the retrieved story template.
