Abstract:
An excavator has an operators cab with an engine compartment at the rear which has a laterally facing opening for receiving cooling air that is drawn by an engine fan through a radiator. A duct is provided for transmitting cooling air from an inlet opening in the duct remote from the engine compartment opening. The engine compartment opening faces a wall of the duct so that the sound waves from the engine compartment must be deflected at an angle before reaching the inlet air opening. The duct causes the inlet air to turn substantially 90Â as it flows from the air inlet opening in order to pass through the radiator at the engine compartment opening.

Abstract:
Disclosed are work machine vehicles having an operator protective structure with a seat mounted in the operator protective structure. In disclosed embodiments, first and second adjustable armrest assemblies are mounted to a structure of the seat such that the first and second armrest assemblies can be adjusted in fore and aft directions relative to a seatback of the seat. Vehicle controls are integrated with the first and second adjustable armrest assemblies such that adjustment of the first and second adjustable armrest assemblies adjusts positions of the vehicle controls relative to an operator sitting on the seat. After adjustment, the vehicle controls and the operator sitting on the seat are maintained at constant relative positions with respect to each other even as the work machine vehicle moves over rough terrain and the seat moves up and down. A nested seatbar is pivotably mounted to a structure of the work machine vehicle such that the nested seatbar can be moved to a down position in which portions of the nested seatbar are located between the first and second adjustable armrests.
Method Of Retaining Structural Transmission Members
A track driven vehicle comprises a structural member underneath the vehicle. The structural member includes a plurality of structural member apertures for receiving fasteners inserted therethrough. The vehicle also includes a first track carrier and a first mounting strut attached to the first track carrier. The first mounting strut, which attaches the first track carrier to the structural member, includes a plurality of mounting strut apertures which, when aligned with the structural member apertures, receive the fasteners inserted therethrough. One of the first mounting strut and the structural member includes a fixedly attached dowel pin, and the other of the first mounting strut and the structural member includes a pin receiving aperture. When attaching the first track carrier to the structural member using the first mounting strut, the dowel pin extends into the pin receiving aperture to prevent cross-shearing between the structural member and the first mounting strut. This reduces camber between the structural member and the track carrier and allows fewer fasteners to be used to attach the first track carrier to the structural member.

Abstract:
A hydraulic circuit for an actuator that has a piston and piston rod that will move a load in a first direction, and which can be externally loaded in an opposite direction, includes a flow compensated valve between the actuator and a control valve. When the piston in the actuator is moved in the second opposite direction under the external load and the rate of flow of fluid out of the actuator through the flow compensated valve exceeds a selected rate, an orifice is introduced in the flow path to restrict flow from the actuator.

Abstract:
A dividing wall between an engine compartment and an operator's compartment of an excavator is provided with an opening through which lines or tubes, such as hydraulic lines or air conditioning lines must pass. The lines or tubes have fittings at their ends which are larger than the lines or tubes, so that the opening, which is in center portions of the wall, has to be large enough to permit passage of the fittings through the wall. The tubes, which are smaller, thus leave portions of the opening uncovered when they are in place. The opening has a number of recesses along one edge that are of size to receive first portions of grommets that in turn surround the tubes. A seal plate that has mating recesses that receive other portions of the grommets extending into the opening is placed to cover the opening, support the grommets, and seal the opening to reduce the passage of heat, noise and the like through the wall when in place.

US Classification:

Abstract:
A compact construction vehicle includes a pump drive system including an engine having a flywheel. A first pump assembly is coupled directly to the flywheel such that a rotation rate of the first pump assembly is the same as a rotation rate of the flywheel. A power transfer system is coupled directly to the flywheel and provides a rotation rate which is different than the rotation rate of the flywheel. A second pump assembly is coupled to the power transfer system such that a rotation rate of the second pump assembly is the same as the rotation rate of the power transfer system. One of the first and second pump assemblies provides power for travel of the compact construction vehicle, while the other of the first and second pump assemblies provides power for a work group of the compact construction vehicle.

Abstract:
A heat exchange system for a power machine that has an engine compartment and a heat exchanger compartment is discussed. The heat exchange system includes a fan housing located between the heat exchanger compartment and the engine compartment. A fan assembly that includes an axial fan and a radial fan coupled to a center shaft having a longitudinal axis extending through the center shaft is positioned within the fan housing. The fan assembly is operably coupled to a fan drive mechanism that is configured to cause the fan assembly to rotate about the longitudinal axis in a first direction and a second direction. First and second control signals from a controller cause the drive mechanism to rotate in the first and second directions, respectively.

Abstract:
A bracket and frame assembly permits attaching and removing a bucket or other tool to and from an arm of an excavator, backhoe, or the like. The bracket and frame assembly comprises two portions, a bracket and a detachable frame. The bracket mounts onto the arm of the implement. The bracket carries a latch member. The bracket can be moved onto a frame on a bucket or other tool, and is latched in place without dismounting from the backhoe, excavator or the like. The latch member can be released, either manually or under power, and then by manipulating the arm, the tool and frame can be removed from the bracket and a new tool mounted. The engaging portions of the frame and bracket are such that as wear occurs, the parts will compensate and remain secured without play or slop.
