Abstract:
Use of parts in products is managed to minimize the use of parts that will reach their end of life prior to the products for which those parts are usable. To manage use of a part, end of life data for the part is estimated and compared to the actual or projected end of life data of a product for which the part is to be used or is used. If the comparison indicates that the part will reach its end of life prior to the product, then various factors are considered to determine whether the part is to be used in the product. The factors include cost, scheduling, alternate part availability, redesign options and/or other factors.
Driver Controlled Automated Taxi Service And Devices
An embodiment of the disclosed technology is an in-taxi customer selection system. The selection system is placed in a plurality of taxis in the form of a device which includes a touch-screen display map of a surrounding location of each taxi. An indicator of at least one future rider desiring a taxi is exhibited anonymously on each display map. The indicator exhibits only a location, and thus, lacks destination data or information about the potential rider other than his or her location of pickup. In this manner, all picked up riders are anonymous to the driver and discrimination against the rider is actually less than in the prior art, since the appearance of the rider cannot be judged before the ride is accepted. Sensors within the touch-screen display receive a selection of an indicator on one of the display maps from a driver of one of the taxis using this system. The selected indicator is then removed from all other display maps, if shown on any at the time, and the driver is sent a confirmation of said selection.

Abstract:
A list of products is created that includes one or more products to be introduced within a future time interval and for zero or more products to be withdrawn within a future time interval, an indication of a withdrawal time. For multiple products of the list of products, a list of parts used by those products is generated. From that list of parts, information is obtained to manage parts of products. This information includes an indication of those parts that are unique, and thus, may be replaced by common parts.
Novel Methods For Bone Treatment By Modulating An Arachidonic Acid Metabolic Or Signaling Pathway
Methods for promoting osteogenesis to accelerate or enhance bone fracture healing, treat bone defects, and enhance bone formation are disclosed. The methods rely on in vivo or ex vivo modulation of an arachidonic acid metabolic or signaling pathway in general, and, in particular, utilize 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors, leukotriene A4 hydrolase inhibitors, and/or leukotriene B4 receptor antagonists. These molecules can be delivered alone or in combination with one or more agents that inhibit bone resorption, regulate calcium resorption from bone, enhance bone accumulation, enhance bone formation, induce bone formation, impair growth of microorganisms, reduce inflammation, and/or reduce pain.

Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed for managing inventory data for components of a server system. In one embodiment, a global management controller is provided, that is operatively connected to a plurality of local management controllers. Each local management controller is configured to manage a subset of the components of the server system. Each local management controller is also configured to generate, for each component, a checksum based on vital product data (VPD) of the component. Each local management controller is also configured to compute a composite checksum based on the checksums generated for the components in the subset. The global management controller is configured to maintain a global view of the VPD in the computer system, based on the checksums and/or composite checksums.
