Abstract:
A method of promoting bone healing in a non-diabetic patient in need thereof by locally administering a therapeutically effective amount of insulin to the patient. A drug delivery device, which includes insulin and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the device is adapted for localized administration of insulin to a patient in need thereof is also presented.
Driver Controlled Automated Taxi Service And Devices
An embodiment of the disclosed technology is an in-taxi customer selection system. The selection system is placed in a plurality of taxis in the form of a device which includes a touch-screen display map of a surrounding location of each taxi. An indicator of at least one future rider desiring a taxi is exhibited anonymously on each display map. The indicator exhibits only a location, and thus, lacks destination data or information about the potential rider other than his or her location of pickup. In this manner, all picked up riders are anonymous to the driver and discrimination against the rider is actually less than in the prior art, since the appearance of the rider cannot be judged before the ride is accepted. Sensors within the touch-screen display receive a selection of an indicator on one of the display maps from a driver of one of the taxis using this system. The selected indicator is then removed from all other display maps, if shown on any at the time, and the driver is sent a confirmation of said selection.
Novel Methods For Bone Treatment By Modulating An Arachidonic Acid Metabolic Or Signaling Pathway
Methods for promoting osteogenesis to accelerate or enhance bone fracture healing, treat bone defects, and enhance bone formation are disclosed. The methods rely on in vivo or ex vivo modulation of an arachidonic acid metabolic or signaling pathway in general, and, in particular, utilize 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors, leukotriene A4 hydrolase inhibitors, and/or leukotriene B4 receptor antagonists. These molecules can be delivered alone or in combination with one or more agents that inhibit bone resorption, regulate calcium resorption from bone, enhance bone accumulation, enhance bone formation, induce bone formation, impair growth of microorganisms, reduce inflammation, and/or reduce pain.

This invention provides a method of promoting bone healing by locally administering a vanadium-based insulin mimetic agent to a patient in need thereof. The invention also provides a new use of insulin-mimetic vanadium compounds for manufacture of medicaments for accelerating bone-healing processes. In addition, the invention also encompasses a bone injury treatment kit suitable for localized administration of insulin-mimetic vanadium compounds or compositions thereof to a patient in need of such treatment.

Abstract:
Two-component polyurethane coating formulations comprising an aqueous dispersion of a polyisocyanate and a neutralized, water-dispersible resin are disclosed. The neutralized, water-dispersible resin incorporates recurring units of an allylic alcohol or an alkoxylated allylic alcohol. These low-VOC formulations use commercial polyisocyanates and ordinary mixing techniques. The uniquely uniform distribution of hydroxyl groups in the resin contributes to an excellent overall balance of coating properties from the 2K system, including high gloss, hardness, impact resistance, flexibility, weatherability, and chemical resistance.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to the preparation and use of novel polyurethane polyuretidione crosslinking agents in solvent and water borne coatings systems. These polyuretidione polyurethanes are characterized by their relatively low solution viscosity, and the ability to provide a relatively high crosslink density in the final, cured film, and thereby, coatings with the excellent physical properties and resistance to chemical and environmental exposure of known polyurethane systems without the potential for worker exposure to toxic isocyanates. This invention also relates to a process for the production of these polyuretidiones and their use in pseudo-one and two component coating compositions.
