Abstract:

A first order phase-locked loop includes a tuning circuit which allows phase lock to be quickly reached, and to be maintained during transient situations such as loss of the data signal. Such an improved circuit has a tuning circuit for the voltage controlled oscillator which utilizes two capacitors. Two signals are used to drive a first, larger, capacitor, and have the same duty cycle when the capacitor voltage is proper and the voltage controlled oscillator is operating at the correct frequency. A second, smaller, capacitor is used to quickly achieve phase lock with the incoming data signal. The use of two oppositional signals to drive the capacitors allows them to more quickly be charged or discharged to the proper voltage level to obtain both frequency and phase lock with the incoming data signal. Thus, the circuit is able to quickly acquire lock during power-up, or reacquire lock under circumstances where the operating condition of the circuit changes suddenly. The circuit always locks to the correct frequency, as opposed to a harmonic thereof.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for sharing a unique identifier among a plurality of receivers. A network controller () can establish at least one unique identifier and at least one corresponding time slot for which the unique identifier is valid for each assigned carrier of a wireless receiver (). The network controller does this by determining at least one unique identifier and at least one corresponding time slot for which the unique identifier is valid for each assigned carrier of the wireless receiver and then sending an indication of the unique identifier(s), time slot(s), and carrier(s) to the wireless receiver. The wireless receiver receives the indication and then monitors at least one channel using the at least one unique identifier during the at least one corresponding time slot indicated.

A base station () assigns a set of mobile stations () to a group wherein the group will share a set of radio resources (). A shared control channel information element () is sent to the group of mobile stations () and provides a bitmap having fields for group ordering (), resource allocations (), failure handling resources (), and an ordering pattern (). If a mobile station fails to decode the shared control channel information element () it will access the failure handling resources in order to receive data. The failure handling channel may be persistent in some embodiments, or may be released after the mobile station is once again able to decode the shared control channel information element () and thereby share in the shared resource pool allocated to its mobile station group.

A base station () assigns a set of mobile stations () to a group wherein the group will share a set of radio resources (). A shared control channel information element () is sent to the group of mobile stations () and provides a bitmap having fields for group ordering (), resource allocations (), continuation resources () for HARQ, and an ordering pattern (). If a mobile station requires retransmission it will access the resources indicated by the continuation resources field () in order to receive data. The HARQ blocks may be assigned to a mobile station based upon an index () which may correspond to the mobile station vocoder rate. Further, HARQ subgroups may be defined to associate subgroups of mobile stations with specific HARQ transmission opportunities on the super-frame and allocated by a rotating bitmap.

A method and system for processing, in a wireless communication device, data concerning a group resource allocation enables efficient use of radio frequency resources. The method includes processing a group properties message received from a radio access network (block ). The group properties message comprises group properties for a scheduling group, and the group properties comprise a group identifier that identifies the scheduling group. A group assignment message received from the radio access network is then processed (block ).
