Pepsi's Nooyi Ends 12-Year Run as Company's First Female CEO
The packaged food industry in particular has witnessed several key female executive exits in the past year. Campbell Soup Co. CEO Denise Morrison abruptly departed in May, while former Mondelez International Inc. CEO Irene Rosenfeld handed over the reins of the Oreo maker in November.
Nooyi is among several prominent female CEOs who have decided to step down in the past couple years; Yahoos Marissa Mayer, Hewlett Packards Meg Whitman, and Irene Rosenfeld of Mondelez have also resigned, reducing 2017s record high of women Fortune 500 CEOs from 32 to 24.
Since the middle of last year several high-profile female CEOs announced they were stepping down last year, including Marissa Mayer at Yahoo, Irene Rosenfeld at Mondelez (MDLZ) and Meg Whitman of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE).
