A probe insertable into a body cavity for applying an electrical stimulation to tissue therein includes a flexible hollow member of biocompatible material to enable the member to be inserted into the body cavity and to substantially conform to its inner surface, and thereby, to contact the tissue therein to be stimulated. A portion of the outer surface of the hollow member is electrically conductive to enable an electrical voltage to be applied thereto for electrically stimulating the tissue within the body cavity contacted by the electrically conductive surface. The probe may also include a transparent section and an optical sensor, such as an oximeter, for optically examining tissues within the body cavity.

Abstract:
A hand movement device comprises a glove for positioning about a hand of a user, a first anchor element adapted to be positioned about a base surface of glove, a second anchor element adapted to be positioned at a tip of a finger portion of the glove, an active spring member positioned between the first and second anchor elements, said active spring member being fixedly secured to said first anchor element and moveable through said second anchor element to thereby allow said spring member to bend about a joint of the finger when said finger is flexed, an activating element positioned adjacent the active spring member to heat or cool said active spring member thereby causing the spring member to bend or straighten, and an intermediary support device for housing said spring element and for connecting the first anchor element to said second anchor element.

Abstract:
A device is provided for registering and recording induced imbalance in a human subject. A horizontal platform is adapted for controlled, linear displacement in a horizontal plane to induce imbalance. Imbalance and response can be detected and recorded by means of electric contact shoes or other means.

Wound Infection Resolution Utilizing Antibiotic Agents And Electrical Stimulation
A method is disclosed for promoting resolution of infection at an externally accessible wound site, such as a skin tear or ulcer, of a patient using antibiotic agents (normally comprising one or more antibiotic drugs) in combination with electrical stimulation. The antibiotic agents administered to the patient enter the blood stream of the patient, and the electrical stimulation is applied, while the antibiotic agents are in the blood stream, to the patient through one or more active electrodes to cause increased circulation of blood to the wound site to thereby enhance resolution of the infection at the wound site.
A portable electrical neuromuscular stimulating apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a plurality of portable electrical stimulation units, with each unit including at least one pair of electrodes adapted to be placed on the body of the patient. Electrical circuit means are provided that operatively interconnect each of the units so that a pulsed electrical energy signal is supplied to each pair of electrodes as desired, whereby a predetermined amount of therapeutic pulsed electrical energy is delivered to the desired muscle.
