  • Vibrating Hole Forming Device For Seismic Exploration

    view source
  • US Patent:
    52817750, Jan 25, 1994
  • Filed:
    Oct 16, 1992
  • Appl. No.:
    7/961851
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Larose LA
  • International Classification:
    G01V 106
  • US Classification:
    181116
  • Abstract:
A vibrating hole forming device for seismic exploration in which a vertically elongated mounting pipe with attached rack gear is powered vertically by a hydraulically driven pinion gear which will mechanically push the pipe downwardly into the earth's surface. A vibrating mechanism imparts vibration to the downward force exerted by the pinion gear and rack gear. Vibration is imparted to the pipe automatically when hydraulic pressure required to operate the pinion gear reaches a predetermined pressure such as when the point on the lower end of the pipe encounters a predetermined resistance to further downward movement. This enables a lightweight unit to impart a constant downward force and a vibration force when needed to enable the device to penetrate through sands or extremely dense subsurface terrain thereby eliminating the necessity of providing a heavy weight vehicle such as is required when conventional hole forming devices are used on which the device is mounted.
  • Articulating Marsh Buggy

    view source
  • US Patent:
    59840323, Nov 16, 1999
  • Filed:
    Jun 10, 1998
  • Appl. No.:
    9/095097
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Cut Off LA
Steven M. Gremillion - Larose LA
  • International Classification:
    B60D 714
    B62D 5500
  • US Classification:
    180 141
  • Abstract:
An articulating marsh buggy or vehicle in the form of an articulated amphibious vehicle incorporating a front and rear drive unit which are pivotally connected for relative angular movement about a generally vertical axis and oscillatable about a generally longitudinal axis. Each of the units includes a pair of pivotal floatable pontoons with each pontoon including a drive chain on which elongated cleats are transversely mounted. The drive chains are driven by independent hydraulic motors to enable the vehicle to move over various terrains and be propelled in marshy areas, bayous or water bodies by cleats on the driven chains on the pontoons.
  • Multiple Force Hole Forming Device

    view source
  • US Patent:
    58604820, Jan 19, 1999
  • Filed:
    Jan 30, 1996
  • Appl. No.:
    8/593969
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Cut Off LA
Steven M. Gremillion - Larose LA
Richard A. Gremillion - Cut Off LA
  • International Classification:
    E21B 726
    E21B 1102
  • US Classification:
    175 19
  • Abstract:
A device and method for forming a downwardly extending hole in the surface of the earth for seismic exploration or for forming a larger diameter hole such as made during exploratory drilling. The hole forming device includes an elongated rigid planting member having a point or tip at its lower end which is forced downwardly into the earth's surface by a combination of forces. The multiple forces may include a primary downward force exerting a substantially constant downward push on the planting member and either or both additional forces imparted to the planting member when the primary force no longer moves the planting member downwardly. The additional forces include a vibrating force applied to the planting member and a force formed by injection of high pressure low volume liquid into a subsurface formation from the lower end of the planting member to separate, saturate, liquefy or condition a compacted or resistant formation to enable penetration of a formation structure that resists penetration by the downward force.
  • Extendable Antenna Mast With Independent Retracting And Lifting Cables

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47853093, Nov 15, 1988
  • Filed:
    May 12, 1986
  • Appl. No.:
    6/862303
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Larose LA
  • International Classification:
    H01Q 110
  • US Classification:
    343883
  • Abstract:
A vertically extendible and retractable mast for supporting an antenna and coaxial cable connected thereto to receive and/or broadcast information and is particularly adapted for use by seismograph exploration crews for receiving data from portable transmitter units which may be located at substantial distances from the receiver with the mast being adapted for mounting stationarily or on a mobile vehicle. The mast and antenna is a multiple stage antenna with simultaneous movement of the sections of the mast with the coaxial cable being fed at the same rate that the upper end of the antenna mast moves with the specific arrangement of the extension or lifting cables, retracting cables, winch and coaxial cable producing a novel and unique extendible and retractable antenna mast.
  • Weed Cutting And Shredding Attachment For Trolling Motor

    view source
  • US Patent:
    49116649, Mar 27, 1990
  • Filed:
    Aug 4, 1988
  • Appl. No.:
    7/228120
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Larose LA
  • International Classification:
    B63H 128
  • US Classification:
    440 73
  • Abstract:
A weed cutting and shredding attachment for an electric trolling motor including a sharpened cutting blade oriented with the sharp edge thereof adjacent to the path of movement of the leading edge of the propeller blades on an electric trolling motor together with a mounting structure for effectively mounting the cutting element from the trolling motor.
  • Barbecue Grill With Fire Retarding Screen

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46305939, Dec 23, 1986
  • Filed:
    Sep 27, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/780986
  • Inventors:
Ernest J. Gremillion - Larose LA
  • International Classification:
    A47J 3707
    F24B 1302
  • US Classification:
    126 25R
  • Abstract:
A barbecue grill combined with a fire retarding screen suspended in vertically spaced relation to a bed of coals and below the cooking grill for barbecuing and smoking meats and vegetables placed on the grill. The fire retarding screen includes metal wire woven to form a mesh with small openings to retard flame passage and provide greater heat intensity for cooking the food at a faster rate with the high heat intensity of the screen causing any grease or fat drippings from the food to be dissipated on contact with the screen thereby eliminating accumulation or build up of flammable grease or fat drippings so that flames caused by such drippings becoming ignited will not burn or char food. This enables the outer edges and surfaces of the food to become crisp while the inner portion remains moist. The fire retarding screen is suspended from the food cooking grill by a plurality of hook-type clips which are movably connected to the screen so that they can be folded against the surface of the screen for ease of storage, packaging and transportation.
