Abstract:

An exemplary apparatus for supplying lubricant to a gear assembly in a gas turbine engine includes a valve having a valve inlet configured to be coupled to a source of lubricant. A valve outlet is configured to direct lubricant to the gear assembly. The valve is selectively controllable into a plurality of settings for varying an amount of lubricant flowing from the valve inlet to the valve outlet. A bypass is associated with the valve. The bypass has an inlet configured to receive lubricant from the source and an outlet configured to direct lubricant to the gear assembly. The bypass permits at least a selected amount of lubricant to flow to the gear assembly independent of a setting of the valve.

Abstract:

A fuel delivery system includes a turbine, a pump, and an oxygen removal unit. The turbine is adapted to receive and expel fuel at different pressures. The pump is in fluid communication with, and mechanically coupled to, the turbine, and is configured to expel and receive the fuel at about the respective different pressures. The turbine is configured to convert pressure energy of the fuel to kinetic energy to drive the pump. The oxygen removal unit is in fluid communication with at least one of the turbine and the pump, and is configured to remove oxygen from the fuel.

Abstract:

A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine has a fuel tank, a main fuel pump for receiving fuel from the fuel tank, and an electric pump also for receiving fuel from the fuel tank. The main fuel pump and the electric pump both deliver fuel to a sharing valve. The sharing valve selectively delivers fuel downstream into a gas generator portion of the gas turbine engine and to an augmentor. A control is programmed to control the sharing valve, such that fuel flows from the main fuel pump to the augmentor, and to the gas generator at higher demand operation, and does not flow from the main fuel pump at lower demand operation. A gas turbine engine and a method are also disclosed.
