An absorption type air conditioning system in which a solar collector is used integrally to heat and strip refrigerant from the mixture of absorbent and refrigerant to eliminate a separated hot water or other heat transfer medium cycle as normally employed between the solar collector and the stripper generator. Also, the present invention includes an absorber which is integrally located within the confines of a deep water well used to extract heat from the entire system, together with a condenser coil or tube also located within the deep water well. The integral location of absorber and condenser within the confines of the heat sinking medium, such as a deep water well raises the overall cooling efficiency since a separated cooling cycle and heat exchanger are eliminated. The invention is particularly suited to brine type absorption systems, such as lithium bromide and water solutions where stripper generator action may take place at temperatures easily obtainable with the solar collector process included. The invention is also suited to ammonia water systems, providing a highly efficient heat removal process with the energy required supplied by solar means.
A frequency conversion system, including a time shared frequency converter and a time shared band limited amplification system, whereby a plurality of information bearing signals are commonly obtained, determined, filtered and amplified over a single path. The process admits signals whose carriers are separated by frequency or phase, and whose amplitudes are different. Synchronous and asynchronous receivers which ordinarily require dual mixers, filters and amplifiers are simplified by this invention. Phase locked loop demodulators, including AM, DSSC and Costas loop demodulators, which ordinarily require a pair of phase detectors, filters and amplifiers to generate the in-phase and quadrature-phase channels are simplified by this invention. The use of a common path for the in-phase and quadrature-phase channels also permits the close matching of gain and frequency response in each channel. Where a plurality of signals having diverse amplitudes are to be commonly processed herein, this invention permits selective automatic gain control by regulating the relative time each such signal is applied to the common path.
Automatic Tuning System For A Narrow Bandwidth Communication
An adjustable tuning apparatus with automatic control of center frequency, damping or bandwidth, and signal level. Three simultaneous servo loops control center frequency, damping and level, separately and independently of one another. Center frequency tuning is accomplished by servo adjustment of the frequency axis of the adjustable tuning apparatus and by sensing amplitude or phase variations of signals being processed through said tuning apparatus, to obtain an error signal for said frequency axis servo. Damping or bandwidth control is accomplished by servo adjustment of damping in the adjustable tuning apparatus and by sensing amplitude or phase variations of signals being processed through said tuning apparatus to obtain an error signal for said damping axis servo. Level control is achieved by servo adjustment of the amplitude and polarity of signal applied at an input of said tuning apparatus and by sensing the level of recovered signal at an output of said tuning apparatus to obtain an error signal for said level control servo. Said three axes of servo control of an adjustable tuning apparatus provide optimum tuning, damping or bandwidth, and level control, such that very weak signals may be selectively amplified and detected to the exclusion of undesirable signals and noise; and that such very weak signals may be thereby employed to automatically control the adjustable tuning apparatus.
