Abstract:

Table data is stored by parsing the table data into columns of values, formatting each column into a data stream, and transferring each data stream to a storage device for storage as a continuous strip of data. The strip of data is stored as a file that is not structured as a series of pages. The formatting of the data stream may include compressing the column values to minimize the length of the data strip. A particular compression procedure may be used that derives a code for each value in the column from a number of occurrences of the value in the column and replaces the value in the data stream with the corresponding code.

Abstract:

A novel message policy manager and method for such manager. The manager includes a variety of modules such as a parsing module coupled to a data network. The parsing module is configured to identify information in the message. The manager also has a policy engine coupled to the parsing module, where the policy engine determines a processing decision for the message based upon the identified information from the parsing module. A storage module is coupled to the parsing module. The storage module is configured to store the message during a portion of time as the processing decision is performed. An enforcement module is coupled to the policy engine and is coupled to the storage module for performing the processing decision and providing an operation for delivery of the message to through the wireless network.

Abstract:

A planning indication directed to a declaratively-described operation and a target MPP database is received where the operation includes multiple mid-operation states and the operation includes, for each state in the plurality of states, those types of devices in a MPP database which would be affected by that state if the operation were performed, including a first set of affected device types and a first mid-operation state. In response to receiving the planning indication, affected device(s) in the target MPP database which would be affected by the first mid-operation state if the operation were performed are determined without performing the operation on the target MPP database. This determination is based at least in part on the first set of affected device types included in the operation. The first mid-operation state and the affected devices are indicated in a display.
