Abstract:
A transparent routing device disposed within an access network configured in accordance with one or more lower-layer protocols is disclosed herein. The device includes a set of subscriber-side ports. Each of the subscriber-side ports is associated with a plurality of virtual subscriber-side interfaces disposed to effectively terminate a corresponding plurality of subscriber-side connections with subscriber host devices served by the access network. The device further includes at least one network-side port through which communication occurs with an external network in accordance with a higher-layer protocol. A routing table is configured to establish a correspondence between network addresses of the subscriber host devices and the plurality of virtual subscriber-side interfaces. During operation of the device, packets received through the at least one network-side port are forwarded to corresponding ones of the virtual subscriber-side interfaces based upon network addresses of the packets.

Abstract:
A system and method of printing an image on a substrate based on an input of detailed image intensity information for each of discrete pixel areas of the substrate, includes or performs steps of processing the detailed image intensity information into less detailed image intensity information; dithering the less detailed image intensity information to approximate the intensity resolution of the detailed image intensity information; and printing the dithered, less detailed, image intensity information onto the substrate. The system will use less memory space than a comparable system which prints directly from the detailed image intensity information, will minimize patterning effects, and will correct for artifacts which might otherwise be printed.
A framer for a data receiver operates by anticipating particular variable data bits to be sent in a desired group of data, and framing the desired group of data in a received signal by detecting the anticipated data bits in predetermined bit positions therein. The invention is illustrated with reference to a packet-based paging system.

A color processing system is provided that specifies color in a standardized, perceptually uniform color space and resolves color differences between input and/or output devices. The color processing system utilizes a color mapping techniques to adjust the results of color mapping to fit the color gamut of the output device.
