  • Abstract:
    A label modification unit may receive a label modification input that indicates a label modification associated with content being written to a label or erased from the label. The label modification unit may identify an area of the label that is associated with the label modification according to the label modification input. The label modification unit may determine, based on a size of the area, a spot size of a light beam that is configured to be emitted by a laser printhead to modify the content within the area. The label modification unit may determine, based on the spot size and the content, an optical path configuration for the laser printhead. The label modification unit may operate the laser printhead according to the optical path configuration to write the content to the area or erase the content from the area.

  • Abstract:
    A method and apparatus for synchronizing image frame capture timing for a plurality of fixed-frame rate image sensors having the same frame rate is disclosed. An example includes a processing system connected to image sensors in a venue for capturing image frames and determining a capture offset for each image sensor, against a common, independent time base. The processing system determines when the capture offset of any of the image sensors is above a threshold offset value and, in response, a restart signal is sent to the image sensor to restart the image sensor for capturing images within the venue at another capture offset. The process will continue for that image sensor until the image sensor has a capture offset within below an acceptable threshold value.

  • Abstract:
    A plurality of three-dimensional (3D) cameras is deployed about a zone through which freight is conveyed to a shipping container. The 3D cameras have sensors with fields of view over which a plurality of point clouds of voxels are captured from the freight. A server combines the point clouds to obtain a composite point cloud of the freight, encloses the composite point cloud with a bounding box having dimensions, and dimensions the freight from the dimensions of the bounding box. An optional scale weighs the freight while it is being dimensioned and moved through the zone.

  • Abstract:
    Described herein are methods and systems for high-precision locationing with depth values. One embodiment takes the form of a method that includes: receiving multiple depth values that correspond respectively to depth readings from multiple depth sensors positioned on a freight-moving vehicle and oriented towards an overhead surface, wherein different portions of the overhead surface are positioned at different heights above a floor surface, determining a position and orientation of the freight-moving vehicle at least in part by querying a lookup table using the received multiple depth values, wherein the lookup table maps respective heights of the respective different portions of the overhead surface to known positions of the different portions of the overhead surface; and outputting the determined position and orientation of the freight-moving vehicle.
