Abstract:
The invention provides a golf feedback system. A mat is used to determine player foot position, and a 3D golf tracking system tracks golf balls hit from the mat to determine (a) a ground ball track and (b) a player orientation axis, based on the foot position and relative to the mat. The system further determines information indicative of how well the ground ball track correlated to the orientation axis. Preferably, a golfer using the system is led through a plurality of pin target locations in a simulated golf game. The system evaluates and stores information such as slice and hook, accuracy, player orientation axis and ball carry distance such that the player can evaluate his/her game individually or against one or more other players. The invention can include a plurality of mats, each mat located at a different tee off position at one or more driving ranges, each mat providing player foot position at that mat, a 3D golf tracking system at each of the driving ranges for tracking golf balls hit from one ore more mats at the associated driving, and a web server for storing and collating player performance information (e. g. , player orientation axis, slice, hook, distance information) for all golfers.

Abstract:
Sensors detects loft time, speed, power and/or drop distance of a vehicle and/or person. The sensors couple with multiple persons during athletic activity. Data from the sensors downloads to a database so that users may compare athletic performances (e. g. , speed) between the persons, such as through the Internet.
A removably attachable optical device includes a clamp comprising an upper clamp member and a lower clamp member. When the clamp is mounted on a mobile device, the upper member extends over a device side to enable an orifice formed by the upper clamp member to be positioned over an aperture of the mobile device. An optical element housing has a portion configured to engage the an upper clamp member. A non-uniform optical element is rotatably mounted to the optical element housing. Rotation of the non-uniform optical element causes light passing through the non-uniform optical element as the non-uniform optical element is rotated to be correspondingly altered to create optical effects.

Earth's sixth mass extinction could already be underway
"Just because the magnitude is low compared to the biggest mass extinctions weve seen in a half a billion years doesnt mean to say that they arent significant," says professor of integrative biology Charles Marshall. "Even though the magnitude is fairly low, present rates are higher than during m
