Abstract:
A discovery framework model includes policy information in the device/service discovery protocols. Service discovery protocols are enhanced by embedding policy information in the over all discovery framework. A method of performing policy-controlled device/service discovery includes modeling a device/service discovery protocol with a state machine either at a gateway or at discovery agents. Policies are used to control and propagate device/service discovery information. These policies are sets of rules that define conditions and attributes under which a certain action is permitted or denied.
Upnp Mobility Extension Using Session Initiation Protocol
A mobility architecture is provided for use in a home network environment. The architecture includes: a mobile network device configured to remotely register with the home network upon attaching to a different network environment; a mobility support server operable to establish an address link between the mobile device and other network devices associated with the home network upon receipt of a remote registration request from the mobile network device; and a SIP server which cooperatively operates with the mobility support server to forward messages between the mobile device and the other network devices using a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).
Application Session Resumption In Mobile Environments
A session management system is provided for resumption of a previously interrupted session between an application client and an application server. The session management system includes: an application client and a session control agent residing on a mobile network device; and a session manager residing on a router of a home network associated with the mobile network device, such that messages to and from the mobile network device pass through the router. The session manager is able to intercept application information being exchanged between the application client and the application server and store a session state based upon the intercepted application information. The session control agent can subsequently interface with the session manager to restore the session state between the application client and the application server.
Cross Layer Optimization For Improving Tcp Performance In Lossy Wireless Environments
An improved method is provided for reducing packet loss using cross layer information. An exemplary method includes: monitoring a transmission state of a data source, where the transmission state is defined in accordance with TCP; marking data packets with a drop preference at an Internet Protocol (IP) layer of the data packets based on the transmission state; and transmitting the marked data packets from the data source.

Abstract:
A service discovery protocol is provided for use in personal area networks and other ad-hoc networking environments. The service discovery protocol is specifically designed to take into account the dynamic network configurations, bandwidth constraints as well as other characteristics of these types of networks. One of the key differentiators of the service discovery protocol is that it relies on a dynamically selected service directory device to manage the amount of information being distributed in the network.
Bangalore is a very unique city because there is no running water around, said Brijesh Kumar, who heads the project. So Bangalore is very critically dependent on lakes for drinking water and ecosystem services.
