A light emitting diode (LED) flat panel lighting fixture is provided. The LED flat panel lighting fixture comprises an LED flat panel lighting device comprising (a) one or more LEDs and (b) one or more first mating mechanisms. The LED flat panel lighting fixture further comprises a mounting bracket comprising one or more second mating mechanisms configured to each mate with a corresponding one of the one or more first mating mechanisms when the LED flat panel lighting device is rotated within the mounting bracket and with respect to the mounting bracket. The rotation of the LED flat panel lighting device within a plane of the mounting bracket and with respect to the mounting bracket causes the mating of the one or more second mating mechanisms with the corresponding ones of the one or more first mating mechanisms.
Example embodiments provide lighting fixture mounting kits for mounting a flat panel lighting fixture to a mounting surface. The lighting fixture mounting kits may comprise a mounting portion (e.g., a mounting plate) and a lighting fixture. The mounting portion may be secured relative to a mounting surface and may comprise mounting catches. The lighting fixture may be secured relative to the mounting portion, and may comprise fixture catches configured to selectably engage the mounting catches. The lighting fixture may be slidable relative to the mounting portion between an engaged configuration in which the fixture catches are engaged with the mounting catches; and a disengaged configuration in which the fixture catches are disengaged from the mounting catches. When in the disengaged configuration, the lighting fixture is pivotable away from the mounting portion to facilitate access to a back portion of the lighting fixture.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixture and methods of manufacturing the same. In various embodiments, the LED lighting fixture comprises a lighting fixture body and one or more luminaires. The one or more LED modules are operatively and securely fixed to the lighting fixture body. Each LED module comprises at least one LED, and a heat sink. The at least one LED is mounted within the LED module such that light emitted by the at least on LED is emitted in an upward direction. The heat sink is positioned such that at least a portion of the light emitted by the at least one LED is not incident upon the heat sink. Additionally, the heat sink is permanently fixed to the lighting fixture body.
Light Emitting Diode (Led) Lighting Device Or Lamp With Configurable Light Qualities
An LED lighting device or LED lamp comprising one or more LED packages; and a switch control unit is provided. The switch control unit is configured to operate the one or more LED packages. The switch control unit is in communication with a sensor located in a space, the LED lighting device or LED lamp also being located in the space. The switch control unit is configured to (i) receive a sensor signal from the sensor, (ii) process the sensor signal, (iii) determine an adjustment to the operating light qualities of the LED lighting device or LED lamp based on the processing of the sensor signal and one or more goal light qualities corresponding to the space, and (iv) adjust the operation of the one or more LED packages in accordance with the adjustment.
Light Emitting Diode (Led) Lighting Device Or Lamp With Configurable Light Qualities
An LED lighting device or LED lamp comprises one or more LED packages, and a switch comprising at least two selectable positions. At least one selectable position corresponds to a set operating mode and one selectable position corresponds to a configurable operating mode. When the switch is in the selectable position corresponding to the set operating mode, responsive to receiving an indication of user input for selecting user-selected operating light qualities, the one or more LED packages continue to be operated in accordance with the predefined operating light qualities corresponding to the set operating mode. When the switch is in the selectable position corresponding to the configurable operating mode, responsive to receiving an indication of user input for selecting user-selected operating light qualities, operation of the one or more LED packages is modified in accordance with the user-selected operating light qualities.

Abstract:
In an example embodiment, a lighting fixture comprising a lighting device and a mounting bracket is provided. The lighting device comprises a front cover, a back cover, a frame, and at least one LED mounted within the interior of the lighting device. The frame has an interior edge that is in contact with a perimeter of the front cover and a perimeter of the back cover. The front cover, the back cover, and the frame define the interior of the lighting device. At least one of the frame and the back cover comprises one or more attachment mechanisms. The mounting bracket comprises a junction box mounting element configured for securing the mounting bracket to a junction box or a mounting surface, and one or more attachment mechanism mating elements configured to mate with the one or more attachment mechanisms when the lighting device is rotated within the mounting bracket to secure the lighting device into the mounting bracket.
Example embodiments provide lighting fixture mounting kits for mounting a flat panel lighting fixture to a mounting surface. One mounting kit comprises a mounting frame and a lighting fixture. When the mounting frame is secured to the mounting surface, a junction box is accessible therethrough. The mounting frame and lighting fixture are shaped for engagement and attachment to one another. Another mounting kit comprises a mounting plate and a lighting fixture. The mounting plate may comprise indexing tabs for alignment with corresponding indexing slots of the lighting fixture and extending outwardly from a plate portion of the mounting plate. The lighting fixture may comprise a back portion having therein one or more indexing slots for receiving an indexing tab therein. Insertion of the indexing tab into the indexing slot guides the engagement of the lighting fixture with the mounting plate.

Abstract:
A twist-and-lock mounting bracket may secure a lighting fixture to a mounting surface. The twist-and-lock mounting bracket may define an aperture having features corresponding to the shape of a twist-and-lock element disposed on a housing of a lighting fixture. Accordingly, the twist-and-lock element may be configured to extend through the aperture while the corresponding features of the twist-and-lock element and the aperture are aligned. The housing may then be rotated such that the tabs do not align with the corresponding features of the aperture, and the twist-and-lock element is thereby prevented from sliding through the aperture. The mounting bracket may be secured to a junction box positioned within a mounting surface, or it may be secured to a biasing bracket having one or more second resilient members configured to engage the interior of a recessed can light, such that the lighting fixture may be secured to the recessed can light.
