Abstract:

A dihydroxy compound characterized by the formula: ##STR1## Wherein R. sub. 1 and R. sub. 2 are independently selected from hydrogen and straight and branched alkyl groups containing up to 18 carbon atoms; R. sub. 3 is selected from --CH. dbd. CH-- and (--CH. sub. 2 --). sub. k, wherein k is between 0 and 6, inclusive; each Z is independently bromine or iodine, d and n are independently 0, 1 or 2; and X is hydrogen or a pendant group having the structure: ##STR2## wherein Y is selected from straight and branched alkyl and alkyl and alkylaryl groups containing up to 18 carbon atoms.
