  • US Classification:
    134 2218, 134 24, 134167 R, 239227, 239240, 239246
  • Abstract:
An apparatus for cleaning the interior of a vessel for containing a sanitary product by ejecting a rotating stream of cleaning fluid. The apparatus features a stationary housing that forms an inlet for receiving a flow of cleaning fluid, a rotatable housing mounted for rotation on the stationary housing about a first axis, and a nozzle for ejecting the cleaning fluid, the nozzle being rotatably mounted on the rotatable housing so that the nozzle rotates about a second axis. A planetary gear train is driven by an impeller driven by the flow of cleaning fluid and drives the rotation of the rotatable housing. The planetary gear train is located between the apparatus inlet and the nozzle. A portion of the flow of cleaning fluid received by the inlet is diverted so as to flow through a passage through the planetary gear train so that the planetary gear train is cooled and lubricated without the use of oil-based or other lubricants unsuitable for contact with sanitary products that might contaminate the cleaning fluid.

  • US Classification:
    134167R, 134166 R
  • Abstract:
An apparatus for cleaning vessels stacked on racks with a minimum of head clearance. The cleaning apparatus has a drive unit with a turbine wheel connected to a multi-stage gear train. The output motion of the gear train connects through an angular transmission within a fluid conveying elbow to a rotatable housing having a rotatable nozzle angularly assembled thereto. The elbow has a pressure channel and a suction channel there through. The length of the apparatus from the elbow to the housing is short enough to be passed into the bunghole of a vessel, e. g. a wine barrel, while racked. A flexible suction hose is connected to a suction line in the apparatus for removing spent cleaning fluid from within the vessel.

  • Abstract:
A rotary apparatus and method is provided for cleaning liquid storage tanks, particularly above ground tanks. The rotary cleaning apparatus includes a Tee housing that is rotated around a vertical axis and a nozzle housing mounted to the Tee housing for rotation around a horizontal axis, resulting in a 360 spherical spray pattern. A set of downspray nozzles is mounted to the Tee housing at an angle to the vertical axis to rotate with the housing and generate a conical spray pattern. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus draws liquid stored in the tank through a filter and pumps the filtered liquid through the rotary cleaning apparatus.

  • US Patent:
    59751320, Nov 2, 1999
  • Filed:
    Jun 25, 1996
  • Appl. No.:
    8/670807
  • Inventors:
Bentley Francis Gleeson - Norristown PA
  • Assignee:
Total Containment, Inc. - Oaks PA
  • International Classification:
    B67D 560
  • US Classification:
    137571
  • Abstract:
An underground secondary containment system that is preassembled to a large extent at a manufacturing site prior to shipping to the site of installation. In this manner, the time expended at the site of installation in installing the underground secondary containment system is reduced. The underground secondary containment system includes a double walled fuel storage tank having isolated adjoining compartments for storing two different grades of fuel. A pair of dispenser sumps are mounted on the fuel storage tank at opposite ends thereof. A pair of tank sumps are mounted on the fuel storage tanks above the corresponding compartments. Each tank sump is connected to each of the dispenser sumps via flexible piping which extends along the exterior of the fuel storage tank. In this manner, two different grades of gasoline can be provided to each dispenser without utilizing piping disposed internally of the fuel storage tanks. The provision of separate tank sumps which are not located below above ground dispenser units permits ready access to the pump and associated fittings.
