Abstract:

A variable force solenoid valve assembly generally includes a coil, magnetic pole, armature, and one or more variable size air gaps that are disposed within the solenoid. The solenoid may be calibrated by first energizing the solenoid coils and determining a corresponding desired hydraulic pressure, measuring the actual hydraulic pressure, and adjusting the magnetic flux until the desired output pressure is achieved.

Abstract:

An infinitely variable transmission for use with an internal combustion engine is provided. Specifically, a prime mover is provided for driving a first hydraulic machine. The first hydraulic machine is arranged to drive a second hydraulic machine via a fluid line that connects the first and second hydraulic machines. The second hydraulic machine is operatively connected with an output element, such as a wheel to drive a vehicle. Each of the first and second hydraulic machines have electronically controllable valves for varying the speed and/or the torque of the first and second hydraulic machines thereby providing an infinitely variable transmission.

Abstract:

A hybrid electro-hydraulic drive system is provided for a vehicle and comprises a hydraulic transmission including a first hydraulic machine and at least one second hydraulic machine drivingly connected to drive wheels of the motor vehicle for driving thereof, an electric motor/generator operatively connected to the first hydraulic machine, and at least one energy storage device operable to store and release a hydraulic fluid energy or an electrical energy. The second hydraulic machine is a reversible hydraulic pump/motor unit capable to function both as a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor. The energy storage device is operatively connected to either the hydraulic transmission or the electric motor/generator. In a retarding mode the hydraulic transmission and/or the electric motor/generator retard the vehicle, while in a driving mode they supply a supplementary power to the drive wheels to assist propulsion of the vehicle.

Abstract:

The present invention provides an actuator assembly for operating a cylinder valve of an internal combustion engine. The actuator assembly achieves fast response times by utilizing a solenoid actuator that contains an armature element formed of a powder metal. A valve system that utilizes two of the actuator assemblies in conjunction with a cylinder valve is also provided.
