    A manifold assembly comprising a manifold block. The manifold block is preferably fabricated from an elastomeric material, such as a polymer material or a rubber material. The manifold block defines a generally planar top surface and a bottom surface. Formed within the manifold block are a plurality of flow apertures which extend between the top and bottom surfaces, and from the top surface to an interior location of the manifold block. Also formed within the too surface of the manifold block are a plurality of flow channels. The flow channels are arranged in a pattern wherein each of at least some of the flow channels place at least two of the flow apertures into fluid communication with each other. Cooperatively engaged to the manifold block is at least one solenoid which is operative to facilitate the selective placement of at least two of the flow apertures into fluid communication with each other. Also attached to the manifold block is a sealing plate which covers each of the flow channels disposed within the top surface.

    A gas delivery system, having a gas identification, by which a gas supplied to the gas delivery system is identified, a blender, blending oxygen and the gas to provide a gas mixture with an oxygen flow rate set up by an operator, and at least one flow sensor, to measure a flow rate of the gas mixture. The blender is driven by an actuator motor to various blender positions with the blender positions being calibrated based on the specific heat ratio and the gas constant of the gas. The flow sensor can be installed at the inspiratory circuit, the proximal circuit and the expiratory circuit of the gas delivery system. The flow sensor output is corrected based on the actual conditions, including the temperature, pressure and humidity, and characteristics of the gas mixture.

Moreover, a cover member is engaged to the body member and is disposed within the aperture. The cover member is adapted to transition between open and closed positions with respect to the aperture. Additionally, a flow-limiting obstruction member is engaged to the body member and is disposed within the aperture adjacent the cover member. The flow-limiting member is configured to apply a generally opposing force to the cover member when the cover member extends to the open position and contacts the flow-limiting member. By doing so, a pressure differential of the fluid may be sensed such that the fluid flow can be measured therefrom.
