An apparatus and method for maintaining separation of two journal foil bearing assemblies, where each journal foil bearing assembly comprises one or more foils with lugs formed thereon for insertion into axial grooves of a bore, the means comprising a pin for insertion into each groove so that an edge of the lug that is inserted into the groove abuts the pin and is prevented from axially drifting along the bore. The pin provides a broad area along the lug edge so that the lug edge does not cut into the pin.

Abstract:
A centrifugal compressor may comprise a wheel and a pipe diffuser. The pipe diffuser may comprise an annular pipe diffuser section and at least one cylindrical hole passing through the annular pipe diffuser section for compressing gas emerging from the wheel. The at least one cylindrical hole may have an axis that is slanted at an angle A relative to a plane that is orthogonal to an axis of rotation of the compressor.

Abstract:
A scroll or torus has a variable thickness and variable radius structure rib support. The scroll or torus may be suitable in high temperature applications while avoiding the high stress found with conventional constant radii ribs and the weight penalty found in stainless steel scrolls and torus. The scroll or torus may be used, for example, on a turbo compressor machine in aircraft environmental control systems.

Abstract:
A precompression pump sprayer is primed by the provision of a priming ramp for deflecting the lower end of a poppet valve member at the end of the plunger downstroke for cocking the valve member so as to disrupt its sealing action with the discharge valve seat to thereby permit air to be released from the pump chamber through the discharge orifice and to the atmosphere.

Abstract:
A two stage pressure build-up discharge valve assembly is mounted within the end of the discharge nozzle surrounded by a nozzle cap of a trigger actuated pump sprayer, and includes a spring biased discharge valve element having a high pressure throttle valve fixed to a second stage low pressure valve piston to provide a predetermined pressure threshold which when exceeded by fluid pressure generated by the pumping force applied during trigger actuation unseats immediately permitting the fluid pressure to act upon the low pressure secondary valve piston rapidly snapping the valve element to a full open flow position.

Abstract:
A trigger pump sprayer has an external cover plate mounted on and parallel to an end wall of the pump body containing the discharge orifice for transverse sliding movement between an orifice covered position at which a first portion of the cover plate overlies the orifice and an orifice uncovered position at which a second portion of the cover having a through opening lies coaxial with the orifice. Guide tracks on said end wall supporting said plate for sliding movement are sloped toward the end wall for camming an inner surface of the first portion of the plate toward the confronting outer surface of the end wall for fluid tightly sealing the orifice closed against leakage in the covered position.

Abstract:
A trigger actuated fluid dispenser for simultaneously dispensing disparate fluids separately stored in separate fluid compartments of a container includes side-by-side pump cylinders receiving side-by-side pump pistons reciprocable simultaneously during each pressure stroke applied by a single trigger lever for separately and simultaneously pumping the disparate fluids along separate discharge paths.

Abstract:
A foamer nozzle assembly combines a turbulence chamber with a foam enhancer comprising a plurality of spaced ribs defining uniform openings, the ribs having flat surfaces lying perpendicular to the inner wall of the chamber for further generating foam as the foam bubbles impact against such flat surfaces to further mix with the air in the turbulence chamber.
